*The Fellowship of Afro-American Men: Celebrating 57 Years of Empowerment**
As we proudly enter our 57th year, the Fellowship of Afro-American Men (FAAM) reflects on its journey from a humble beginning to a multifaceted organization dedicated to our youth. Established in response to budget cuts that eliminated recreational after-school programs in District 65, FAAM has evolved significantly over the years. What began as a safe space for young people (grades 6th through 8th) to play basketball and cheer, has expanded to include 4th through 8th grade girls’ basketball league, and mentorship program, fostering both athletic skills and personal growth.
As we look forward to the upcoming 2025-2026 season, we are excited to rebuild and grow after the challenges posed by COVID-19. Last season, we witnessed an incredible turnout with over 250 students participating across 14 boys' basketball teams, 6 girls' basketball teams, and 2 cheerleading teams. This achievement would not be possible without the dedication of our 80+ volunteers, who are the backbone of our organization, ensuring that we continue to provide a positive and enriching environment for our youth.
If not already, we invite you to be a part of our FAAMily and contribute to our mission of empowering young lives. Join us as we continue to make a difference in our community!
